We received a invitation to attend the christening of Byron (baby boy!) The invite was really nice, but the stamp really caught my eye!
To borrow from the description on the Australia Post website:

The road trip of today has its roots in the distant past, although taking to the tarmac in the 21st century doesn't look much like its predecessors. Wayfarers of today are inspired by a lust for learning, adventure and freedom, and simply for fun. All said and done, then, the road trip is arguably still a pilgrimage of sorts, even if secular.
For many trippers, it is as much about the journey as it is the destination. This stamp issue adopts a light-hearted approach to travelling through remarkable landscapes and calling at some landmark attractions....
If that doesn't make you want to load up the Kombi and go, then there is something missing in your life!
Yesterday Dormy our 1976 VW Dormobile Kombi became a star when she was used by a film company for a TV advertisement.
Dormy travelled out to Kiama and was dolled up to become one of the features of an ad for a Korean bank. We think she looked pretty awesome!
One of the most famous actresses in Korea starred alongside our Kombi, and the two spent a few hours getting to know one another.
We found out this was actually not the famous actress, but a body double. The real actress slipped in with her body guard and entourage and filmed a few scenes later in the day.
The crew filmed a few scenes inside the Kombi, and so Dormy was given some decorations and accessories.
After a very long and tiring day that started at 4am and lasted until dusk (I don't know how the film crew does it!) Dormy made her way back home.
We are looking forward to seeing the ad when it is finished!

We know VW Beetles are pretty resilient vehicles, but can they protect you from sharks?

As part of the Discovery Channel's Shark Week Volkswagen has built a "Volkswagen Beetle Shark Observation Cage" that divers can use to interact with sharks underwater, SMH reports.
The cage is based on the dimensions of the VW Beetle and still has the iconic car's headlights, tail-lights and wheels, along with a VW badge and steering wheel.
Divers can actually drive the Beetle cage underwater and interact with the sharks, propelled by oxygen thrusters.

VW fanatics will once again gather together to celebrate the beauty of dubs at the Volkswagen Spectacular this week.

The VW festival brings Kombi, Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 and other VW owners to Valla Beach on the NSW North Coast for five days of camaraderie, VW pride, music and VW races.
Thursday and Friday are the main days of racing at Raleigh Raceway, where you can see old VWs go faster than you'd ever expect!
The most spectacular day of the festival is Saturday, where hundreds of VWs participate in a parade along the Pacific Highway into Nambucca Heads. The vehicles then park on the main street and visitors can spend hours checking out the sweet rides.
There are other activities on throughout the festival which goes until Monday, so to check out all the details visit the Volkswagen Spectacular website or check out their Facebook Page.

We recently posted a sneak peak photo of one of our Kombis we just painted yellow, and after seeing where the interior was up to I couldn't resist posting another!
The checkerboard lino goes perfectly with the upholstered seats, and the black side cards finish the look off very elegantly.
After we finish off the interior we need to do a little work on the motor, but then finally she should be up for sale!
We stumbled across a VW graveyard on the weekend! It was very cool, with heaps of old VW Beetles, and a few Bay Window Kombis, Splitscreens and Type 3s.
These are the ones we saw out the front of the property, but it looked like there was a lot more down the back!
None of the ones we saw looked like they'd be back on the road any time soon. Apparently the guy has been collecting them for 30 years!
With a new movie about Apple founder Steve Jobs in production we at Righteous Kombis are hoping his VW Kombi gets a mention!
Legend has it Jobs sold his VW Kombi in the 1970s to help raise $1300 to set up the company in his garage.
Several scenes in the movie are said to have been shot in the actual garage Jobs and Steve Wozniak began putting the Apple computers together.
Here is a photo of the house where it all began... do you think those suspicious stains out the front of the house is proof he did in fact own a Kombi?? :P
